- Clara Lapiedra’s business school has once again become the ambassador, for the fourth consecutive year, of this annual event originating from Stanford University.
- The conference was held at the Movistar de Centre in Barcelona with three panels that revolved around artificial intelligence with the participation of up to 20 speakers.
The Women in Data Science (WiDS) conference has once again placed data science and female talent at the centre of the debate thanks to Aula Magna Business School, the online business school by and for women of Clara Lapiedra, ambassador of WiDS for the fourth consecutive year in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid.
The programme consisted of three panels with a total of 20 participants. Artificial intelligence (AI) was the star topic in all the round tables. From its power as a technological revolution to its capacity to reinvent someone’s professional career, including ethics and its link to data management. “As soon as we apply deep learning, accountability is lost,” said Paula Campreciós, from Ingram Micro, in one of the panels on understanding AI as an opportunity.
The variety of the panels was very good. Participants included representatives from large companies such as Serena Alderisi from SGS, Virginia Carreras from Smart Equality, Eli Tremps from Telefónica Germany GmbH and Cristina Rata from SeQura. There were also moderators with a long career in communication such as Marta del Pozo and Rosario Santa-María, both communication consultants. Finally, the attendance of Ms. Liliana Arroyo Moliner, Director General of Digital Society of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the talk by Laura Sagnier on the “concrete slab” and the distribution of time in the life of entrepreneurial women stood out.
In short, she stressed the importance of reconciling the technological revolution with an ethical and fair adaptation to this change, especially in the field of AI, in order to ensure that it is implemented responsibly and fairly. As well as encouraging and promoting the transition of AI research projects to the market. As Anna Renau of Adevinta concluded, “you may not be interested in AI, but AI is interested in you”.
